On 16 November 2024 at the Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn, Jaap Plokker received the first prize of the competition organised by the Stichting Historische Publicaties Holland-Rijnland ‘Rhineland History’ Foundation on the occasion of its second anniversary.
Jaap Plokker is a regular author of the Member Magazine of the Society ‘Oud Katwijk’. He won the prize with his article ‘Het “Heldenfriedhof” bij het Groene Kerkje te Oegstgeest’, in which he discusses the World War II German war graves at that church.
The jury appreciated his work as exemplary source research and a solid piece of historiography on a lesser-known aspect of the history of the occupation of the Netherlands.
