When people speak of war victims, most people today still think of fallen Dutch and Allied soldiers, resistance fighters, forced labourers and Jewish Dutch citizens. In traditional thinking, people still tend to view things through the lens of the enemy image, and German victims are not among the group that comes to mind with the same automatism. This website makes no distinction.

As a visitor you will find information here about victims who fell within the municipality of Deurne as a result of the Second World War, without distinction between the parties of the time. Furthermore, you will find information here about Deurne residents who perished elsewhere, including those who served in foreign military service. The aim is to eventually catalogue all victims on this website and present the data about them.

There, you can search using various criteria to find the person in question, organised into a number of main themes. In addition, the search function provides access to a quick, general search across the entire website.

This site is still very much under development. Richard Schoutissen carries out tireless research into the war victims, as a result of which the content is gradually expanding. Information is of course most welcome, as are any comments you may have following your visit to the website.
